For the past 12 weeks I have been working on the Concept Proposla Module with Glen and Andy.
Throughout this period I have worked on implemeting 3 main functional tasks up to now. Those are

1) Creating a concept proposal webpage
2) View list of concept proposals
3) Transfer existing proposals from core to the new concept proposal module

Here I have attached the dowload url of the .omod file and I have to work bit on the UI senario.

Through out this summer I had really great experince inturms of learning. I learned lot and I was really excited to work with Glen where he allocated his valuable time during workdays to share with me. Andy was quite fast on responsing to my emails too.

Overall this Gsoc was a great experince to me and I was quite happy. Because this Gsoc introduced me to the OpenMRS where I learned lot from it rich framework. I am quite excited to work on it and I have decide to continue my contribution to OpenMRS after the Gsoc too.

Expereince from Iteration 1

June 17, 2010 at 1:01 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

Through out the past fortnight I have been working with the Iteration 1 where I have created a page to display the concept proposals available in the database. In order to display this page I used a cool plug-in called dataTable. Since this is my first experince in handling plugins, jquery and Ajax it took me some while to get used to this plug-in.

When I was using this plug-in I encountered enormous problems and I got good assistance from both Darius and Wyclif. Thank you guys

Anyone who wants to check out the first part can download the omod file from here.

At last the time to hack has arrived. So the next 12 weeks are going to be much more crucial.

Glen had laid down a clear road map for the concept proposal module where he has assigned me a use case which has to be completed with in fortnight. As for the road map with in this fortnight I have to complete the use case on displaying the concept proposals list. I have been working on it and hoping to see you guys with the completion of use case in coming week.

Bye

Second week of the summer

May 9, 2010 at 4:42 am | Posted in Gsoc 2010 | Leave a comment

Almost we have reached the end of the second week of the summer. In this week I was mainly concentrating on three things. Those are understanding the requirements, learning the OpenMRS data model API and preparing some documentations.

Understanding the requirements was a bit lengthy process. Because The Concept Proposal module has some inter dependency with the Remote Transfer Module. So I had some lengthy email discussions with the mentors (Glen , Andy and Ben) and Kenny. These mails assisted me in clearly defining my task and how I am going to achieve it.

After understanding the requirements I initiated the documentation of the project in the wiki page. This will evolve as the project grows. In the document I have clearly defined what I am going to do and what are the mile stones and deliverables. I am planning to cover the most of the development prior to interim to concentrate more on testing during the last days.

In the mean time I have been spending some time on learning the data model API. I was reviewing the current code implemented to submit proposal and it’s interaction with the concept_proposal table. I also did some testing on creating a separate module for my project (Of course I copied the same Hello World example 🙂 ).

Overall I had a great second week where I learned lots of thing. Hoping to meet you soon with the next post. Bye for now. 😀

Starting to code to save lives

April 26 was an unforgettable day for me. Because I got selected to the Google Summer of Code 2010. I felt this like as one of my life time achievement.

Now almost 48 hours passed. Back to business. I will be posting my weekly progresses on the project named Concept Proposal Module.  I will be mentored by two well experienced guys Glen McCallum and Andy Kanter. I am really excited and thankful to them for giving me this opportunity

For now Thats all. Hope to see you all in the next post.

Byeeeeeeeee 🙂 🙂
